Madeline Norton is a painter and art educator based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Norton’s painting practice invites viewers to join her in a tracing of memories through paint, capturing auto-fictive vignettes that explore grief and desire. Fascinated by the interplay of tenderness and detachment, Norton is interested in how the deconstruction of memory allows for new, unexpected narratives to form.
Norton received her BFA in Studio Art from Louisiana State University in 2019 and her MFA in Painting from Boston University in 2022. Her paintings have been on view at spaces such as Gallery NAGA (Boston), Southeastern Contemporary Art Gallery (Hammond), Racecar Factory (Indianapolis), Morgan Lehman (NYC), and has been featured in art publications including Friend of the Artist and Art Maze Mag. She is a recipient of the 2022 Blanche E. Colman award for New England artists and was awarded 1st place.
